The Cruising Club of America and New York Yacht Club offer the International Offshore Safety at Sea with Hands-On Training course at various dates throughout the year. Successful completion of this course yields a World Sailing (formerly ISAF) Approved Offshore Personal Survival Course certificate.
PRESENTLY, ALL COURSES IN 2020 and 2021 are cancelled.
The CCA and NYYC have cancelled all courses in 2020 and 2021. We plan to resume courses when a safe, effective, and accepted COVID-19 vaccine is in wide distribution. For planning purposes, we assume we will be able to resume courses in January 2022. If the proper conditions are met sooner or later, we will adjust the starting date.
When courses resume, we will work with the approximately 160 students who have already registered to get them scheduled first. We will contact these students. Our goal is to make sufficient Safety at Sea courses available in the first half of 2022 to satisfy the needs of the 2022 Newport Bermuda Race.
We will be working with our venue, Roger Williams University, and our fleet surgeons to determine what procedures are required to safely conduct these courses. The health and safety of our students and instructors are our top priority. Please check back in May 2021 for an update.
