What If the Sheet Hits the Pram?
Chuck Hawley ran into CCA member and sailor extraordinaire Skip Allan at the marine flea market this weekend, and he suggested the following Safety Moment:
Online Supplement to International Hands-On
For NBR participants and return crew, and attendees of our courses, we have obtained a discounted rate for the online Safety at Sea course. This seminar, combined with the International Hands-On course taken within a year, will lead to a World Sailing certificate.
The course covers all ten subjects required by US Sailing, presented by Chuck Hawley and a cast of knowledgeable experts. Each section is accompanied by a quiz.
| IMPORTANT: This course by itself does NOT count toward the Bermuda Race requirement of 30% of the crew having Safety at Sea training. This online course only counts toward that requirement when it supplements a one-day Safety at Sea hands-on course. |
Fire in the Boat – Lithium Batteries - Prevention: an Update
Lithium batteries are a fact of life in this day and age, and, like so many other things aboard, we must treat them with care.
Capsize at Cape Horn
In this reprinted article from SAIL magazine, CCA member Rich Wilson shares the tale of a terrifying capsize at one of the roughest patches on the water.
